Lauren Southern is a canadian far-right political activist, video blogger, documentary filmmaker. She is widely included among the alternative right, but it denies it. In 2015, Southern ran as a libertarian party candidate in Canada’s parliamentary elections. She worked for The Rebel Media until March 2017. Lauren works independently and uploads videos to YouTube.
In 2017, Lauren Southern supported the white identity group Defend Europe, which fought with non-governmental organizations involved in search and rescue operations in the Mediterranean. She was detained by the Italian coast guard for preventing the ship from entering the rescue operation. In March 2018, she was interrogated under the British terrorism Act and banned from entering the UK due to her intentions during a March visit.

In August 2018, the Auckland city Council cancelled Lauren Southern reservation and banned her from using the city’s venues for fear that her performances would “ignite ethnic or religious tensions”.
